Do’s and Don’ts of Handling Durable Containers for Dry Ice

Here are key do’s and don’ts to keep in mind when handling these containers.

  • Keep the hinge area free of Dry Ice. 
  • Keep the gasket area free of Dry Ice.  
  • Keep the top edge of the container free of Dry Ice. 
  • DON’T allow Dry Ice to fill the hinge area. 
  • DON’T crush Dry Ice on the top edge of the container. 
  • DON’T overfill the container. 
  • Never overfill the container with Dry Ice preventing the lid from closing and sealing. 
  • Never leave the container lid unlatched when Dry Ice is in storage. 
  • Use only plastic shovels for removing Dry Ice pellets. 
  • Never move a container with the lid open. 
  • Never fill container with liquid nitrogen. 
  • Never push a container with forklift forks. 
  • Never use high pressure water directly on the lid gasket. 
  • Never store containers outside in direct sunlight with the lid open.
