How to Guide: Cleaning and Maintaining Durable Containers

One of the advantages of ThermoSafe durable insulated containers is that they can be used over and over many times.

To ensure the maximum lifetime of the containers, it’s important to clean and maintain them properly.

Here is some guidance on how to do that.

  • ThermoSafe dry ice containers can be cleaned with any mild detergent and water. Hard to clean areas can be cleaned with any food approved, commercial grade, or household cleaner appropriate for use on polyethylene surfaces. Examples might be Zep, or citrus based cleaner.
  • Containers may also be pressure washed. Pressure washing should only be performed on containers that have returned back to ambient temperature. Care must be taken to avoid the lid seal area when using a pressure washer.
  • DO NOT use any abrasives, or live steam.
  • Avoid storing containers outside in direct sunlight with the lid open.
  • Ensure containers reach ambient temperature before placing them outside.
  • Do not stack empty containers more than two high and avoid stacking full containers altogether.
  • Always keep the lid closed when moving a container.
  • Do not fill the container with liquid nitrogen.
  • Avoid pushing a container using forklift forks.
